My 45DCOE seems to be leaking fuel. The underside of the carb is damp with fuel after about 10 minutes of running at the slalom last week. Obviously i am not happy with a leaky carb sitting over a hot exhaust. It has had a kit put in with all new gaskets and o-rings, but the bottom gasket in the kit did not fit as it was entirely the wrong shape. I cut a bit of gasket card to suit and installed that instead. Just wondering if there are any "typical" reasons for this, like maybe float level set to high? cheers michael |

mine does exactly the same thing, when i took it to gr about some other issues i asked him about it, he said i had two gaskets on it, so he told me to take one off, and also tighten up all the mounting nuts. simple, and it fixed it. |

They do tend to drip fuel from the softmount O-rings as said. I run a 45 Dellorto, they doesn't need the soft mounts, = no leaks. ![]() |

Mick, does it leak when its running? or just when its turned off? My Cooper S does the same, GR had a look and said its normal, she'll be right. Doogie |

Mine was dripping fuel after you turned off the engine. Not a huge amount, just a drip every 5 or so seconds. I bought a new Redline soft mount kit from the local Dynotune for $25 and all is good now. You can get the same kit from ebay for around $20 including post. |

Doogie Not sure. When it is off and the fuel pump is running there does not appear to be a gushing leak. I just want to know where to start looking..... |

Hey Mike I bet it's that bottom gasket you're talking about. My dellorto does not leak. |

yeah i am going to pull it off the car and have a closer look. I don't care what people think is "normal", but a carby leaking fuel under any circumstances is not it. cheers michael |

I have always wondered why there are so many fire extinguishers in minis. I think I am closer to why, webers. |

You're more likely to start a fire from Lucas electrics than petrol... If petrol ignited anywhere along the fuel line, an extinguisher won't help you one bit |

which is why eliminating the leaks is a much better idea ![]() |

Yeah a nice [pssst] of fuel over the exhaust isn't great safety-wise. I had this problem with my 45 DCOE. Turns out the centre plate on the air filter side wasn't fixed properly. I got her re-kitted and cleaned out now it doesn't drip at all. I'm using a one-piece redline soft-mount. I've got a weber air box so it was showing a yellow/black colour which is how I noticed it. |
