I see it pop up on ebay often. It's not a Mini seller, he just sells alloy rads, hoses and stuff for many different cars. What are your thoughts? I'm worried because it comes from O/S. Can it be trusted? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DUAL-CORE-alumin ... 240%3A1318 |

I like the way it's listed as a dual core unit and the description says its three. I like the look of that, does anyone here have one? Will it take a rover thermoswitch in the bottom? It doesn't look right. ![]() |

Welding does look "yum-cha" spec, but I'd be tempted at that price. |

GR's been doing this for years. He puts aus made alloy one core radiators into his racecars but they are specially made with greater capacity. I doubt (but can't be certain) that changing material from the normal radiator to an alloy model of the same spec will make any difference to cooling. Looks only I'd say. The ones GR are slightly more expensive... |

I`ve ben using alloy radiators in bot my race minis & my twin cam minis & with the roadys i havn`t been able to keep the temp high enough without fitting an 88deg thermostat,,, so they do cool better than a stock 3 core mini rad & that price is way good |

I saw a nice alloy rad at Link. It uses intercooler core (which is I suspect where a lot of the cores may come from) and is actually single. I'd like to give one a try! |

I bought a Honda Civic alloy rad for my starlet Mini from Hong Kong. Cost me $120 posted. It looks exactly the same as the unit that is sold my Minitec in their Vtec Mini kits. (But much cheaper, although without a thermo fan and hoses so it's not a fair comparison). The Civic one looks like it's manufactured by the same guys, same fittings etc. For a Mini one though, I am tempted at that price for sure. |

some of the early 90's diahatsu charade's had full alum rads fitted mainly in the turbo version. Most are completely painted black, so sctatch the paint to check. They are about the same size as mini except mounting brackets on the sides instead of top /bottom. The tanks are bigger and they fit by drilling new mounting holes in rad shroud in mud guard. The bottom hose fits but the top you need a "S" shaped one of a pulsar. |
