Very timely! I have finally started to dismantle my 1275 LS and putting all the rusty, dirty, corroded nuts and bolts and brackets into a bucket so they can be degreased and sent off for replating. ![]() |

![]() I should have mentioned Blu Chrome Is Great for Chrome and Zinc plating, However If you are wanting nuts bolts washers etc plated These would be more expensive at Blu Chrome as They do Not do Barrel Plating, So all these would have to be wired up to plate them |

For any one else, do not use Pine Rivers Electroplating in Brisbane. They have had parts of mine for over 6 months and were paid in full for the work 5 months ago.... |

As Some people on this Forum may know I am an electroplater, The 850 grille is very hard to re plate and have it look as it did new, This is because to get the best chrome finish the metal has to be polished smooth before Plating, This is extremely hard to do in the recesses on the 850 grille, they are usually rusted in these places and as a result pitted, to remove these pit marks is a Lot of work and time, This equals a lot of dollars most Platers do not have the time or the inclination to remove these marks, So what you get is a grille that is very good on the flat surfaces but tends to look a little like silver frost in the recessed areas, Depending on how badly pitted it is to start with. I am happy to explain this in detail to anyone who wants to call me 02 46481233 |

Here's some motivation... Zinc plating will be the Jesus stick on your parts however...if some are worn a little thin with age then they will come back with holes in them. Think carefully about your more uncommon stuff, like Cooper parts, tin brake cylinders etc. If they're a little marginal, think twice about putting them in. You can see in the third photo that a lot of bolts have severe pitting, this is not the usual case when zinc plating. They were especially marginal as they came from some pretty rusty components and so were turfed to the very last last resort bucket. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
