Just a question for people,
When it comes to engine cooling fans which ones have people had found to be the better one the metal fan with more blades or the plastic one with less blades

I have had a plastic fan with 2 blades missing when I got the car. (and three blades missing when I sold it :lol: )

I found the metal fan to be a PITA. So threw it away for a later plastic one.

The metal fans can cause much knuckle pain and cutting from my experience, they are probaly useful as death frisbee or ancient ninja weapon, but otherwise..nah plastic FTW.

and cut fingers pretty well....

just get a nice and easy thermo fan ....

Which fan blows more wind?

I have tried test this with my minis i had two running one has a metal fan and the other has the plastic one. Both cars were tested at idle and at 3000rpm and it didnt seem to be much difference anyone else tried this?

Just some interesting side notes on fans.

Back in the '70s when I got my Land Cruiser everyone pulled out the plastic fan and replaced it with a metal one. Reason - if you drove into deep water the plastic fan flexed forward in the water and gouged groves in the radiator. Guess it wouldn't be a problem in a Mini - that much water and it would be floating.

Second did you know the IT industry loves producing 3 letter acronyms and that ACD = air circulating device = fan Doh !!
