Depending on how much prep work you can do yourself, how much of the car you want painted (inside, engine bay, boot, underneath), what type of paint (2pac, acrylic, metallic, roof a different colour to the body) and all round quality it could be anywhere from $1000 to $5000. If you want to try it yourself the set up cost could be easily under $1000 and then you can paint the car however you like but your more limited to acrylic non-metallic paint.
As for where check out your local phone book and give some local panel shops a ring and ask if the can recommend anyone, even ask at some paint shops.

I had my panel beater do all the prep work during the shell repairs and he said to do a 2pac metallic job it would cost me $2000 but he's already done most of the prep work so I've already spent a few thousand with him. It really depends on quality, quantity, type and time.

good luck getting change from $5k unless your going to do the prep yourself.

start by reading up on all things paint related --> http://www.autobody101.com/forums/

write down a list of what you can do and what tools you have.
also list what quality of finish your after and your budget.
ring around and get a few quotes and you will soon realise what you are up for.
