Hey guys. It's been a while but I'm back tinkering with the Mini again.
I'm fitting an aftermarket Smiths electric gauge. I pulled it out of a Mini but it is not a Cooper S or K gauge. Unfortunately neither post on the back is marked. From my limited understanding of such things, I figured that it didn't really matter which post was connected to what, as long as one had a power source, and the other went to the temp sender unit. It also has no markings as to what voltage it is. I figured it must be 12v, since if it was 10v it would probably say so. Yes? No?
I'm hoping it's 12v since I'm removing my voltmeter to fit it, and it would make the wiring easier since +12v is still there. The back of both gauges look damn near identical, so I figure they're not dissimilar internally. They do similar things, just one has some resistance involved.
Cheers for the tips guys. I'm trying not to blow anything up. Maybe I'll add a fuse before I switch anything on.
