the PO fitted a poxy little horn to my 7/70 MK2 S, I've got some originals that work, but I don't know where the proper place for them is. The Camino Gold MK2 that was on ebay late last year had it mounted poking out from the inner guard, and I have a couple of holes there that look factory and are the right spacing, but I'm not sure if I've seen one there before It does have the 2 holes in the bonnet catch panel where the horn mounts facing downwards, but that part has come off another car, so not sure thoughts? |

Later shells removed the horn to the guard. My April 70 and June 69 had it mounted on the bonnet catch, but they changed sometime soon after that. |

I have seen a few horns mounted on the subframe under the radiator by the factory, this may be an option. |

I dunno. The holes existed in guards well before the horns were moved in front of the booster/ K heater mounting holes, but if the holes ain't in the bonnet catch, I guess it's a foregone conclusion.... |

My March/April '70 doesn't have holes in the bonnet catch panel. I suppose this means mine should be on the inner guard Steve |

That's odd, my old march/april did have it mounted there.... Maybe there was a changeover period. They use the holes formerly occupied by the Lockhed booster forward bracket. |

My 8/69 S has the horn located on the inner guard and uses the same holes as the bracket for the brake booster. Couldn't say for sure if that is the original spot, but it fits, and it's where I put it back after the engine rebuild. Peter. |

Just had Panthersteve around and he pointed out the correct location for an early 850 like mine is up on the triangle brace in front of the hole in the firewall. - you can just see one of the mounting holes in the above photo, the other is just above it on the edge of the 'wet' patch. |

Does this mean your bracket is straight and not with a right angle  If so I would think this may not be correct as I believe if it is mounted on the bonnet catch panel it would have an angled bracket and the horn faces forward.

Not sure about SC parts (don't know who they are) but Somerford and Mini spares are possibly not the best sources as they are concerned with British cars, not the Australian variety, particularly when it comes to minor details like these horn brackets and positions.. Steve |
