Post subject:  Fuel Filter
I need to install a fuel filter on my Rover Cooper, it would be preferable to put it underneath the rear sub frame so a pic of your filter installed would be appreciated so I can see how they are installed, and what would be the easiest way to check the outgoing fuel line, or doesnt it matter which line you put the filter on.

There are 2 lines one out and the other I guess is the return line.

Your car is injected , so I guess you'll need a pressurized fuel filter canister. I'm not sure however what people use in place of the factory filters however...

There is a filter in the tank. A secondary one probably wouldn't be very effective.

Why do you need to put one in Davo?

Just thought it was the thing to do, nasty little floaties getting into the injec tor, makes car run like a Commodore, rough as Gut5. :roll: :oops:

You never know whats in the fuel when you fill up, so it was a precaution I thought was a good idea, but if its already got one, then I will forget it then...Thaks mate. :wink: :wink:

I'd just run half a bottle of injector cleaner through with a tank of 98 octane every few months. Don't go the full bottle, the mix is designed to work on cars with bigger tanks.

I always thought that putting that stuff in the fuel caused problems, aNYONE ELSE HEARD THAT STOPY OR HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY USED THAT ADDITIVE AND WERE THEY HAPPY WITH THE RESULT OR WERE THERE PROBLEMS. ( bloody kaps lock key again) sorry.... :oops: :oops:

I thought premium unleaded fuel already contained detergents to clean carbs, injectors, valves etc. BP advertises their Ultimate 98 as such.

Just pop into Repco or Bursens and ask for a fuel filter for a 4cyl Range Rover Freelander.

Job is pretty easy - just two tips

1. spray the mounting bolts a day before with WD40 (or your favorite substitute)

2. follow the filter input hose back to the top of the tank (there's three going into the tank) and disconnect it first so that the tank doesn't syphon out all over you when you disconnect the filter end.

The correct filter for the SPI, from Coopers at least, is FIG7010.

There's another number on a sticker on the box, its ESR4065 <B> - just in case you need it.

As far as I know all the injected Minis (SPi, MPi and the late Jap SPi on a MPi block) use the same fuel filter.
