Hello! :D

Could somebody please help me understand what all this means? (sure, some of it is obvious, but not all of it 8) )

Model: VAN MK II
Type: YJBAV4R
Serial Number: 1233
Engine Number: 1OYJ/U/H
Colour: 1/MIST GREEN/3
G.V.W: 2044 LBS (gross vehicle weight?)
G.C.W: nothing written here..... whats the 'C' for?

also stamped onto the plate, not titled and larger, is: 1874S - is this the body number?

So..... What is it?

:D

It is a Morris Mini 1100 van (a K van).

Does the 1874S match the engine number stamped on the block?(1OYJ/U/H 1874S)

I would guess 1969 or 70.

Thanks heaps, i figured it was a K, being a MKII... its good that you have given me a bit more of an idea of what year specifically.... just wondering how much more info i can get from those numbers?

Model: VAN MK II = Morris Mini 1100 Van.

Type: YJBAV4R
Y = Australia
JB = Commercial Vehicle
A = (refers to engine size but for some reason is wrong! :lol: )
V = Van
4 = 4th variant of van
R = Right hand Drive

Serial Number: 1233 = 733rd vehicle off the line

Engine Number: 1OYJ/U/H 1874S (assuming that the 1874S is the missing bit of the engine number!)
10 = 1098cc
Y = Australian
J = Van engine
U = Centre Change Gearbox (magic wand)
H = High Compression
1874 = 874th engine of that spec
S = Sleeved block

Colour: 1/MIST GREEN/3
1 = Enamel
MIST GREEN = 1969 colour
3 = Berger

G.V.W: 2044 LBS = gross vehicle weight
G.C.W: Gross Combination Weight = Van + Trailer

Morris, awesome, thankyou so much! that is the extent of information i was looking for :D

So, is it hard to pinpoint exact year? I mean, if that green was a 69 colour, it could have been made that year or the one after or does it mean its a 69?

the number on the block thats there is 99H702V/H1728.... a whole different type of code lol (to me, anyway)

Ian.... Im not telling :wink:

If you know your numbers dates of production are on the boot lock, window wiper motor and the glass itself has date codes, being able to date the glass is one way of telling you how original the car is and if there has been any accidents/repairs.

The year is a bit hard to work out because I have very little van info.
That model was made from the middle of 69 and finished in 71. So it can only be 3 years.
It is the 733rd one made which is a fairly low number but they didn't make vans at the same rate as sedans.
The Dulux book gives a date for the paint colours but it is not always accurate, it is at best a guide.
But I would guess it was made in late 69. I bet the dates on all the electrical items will be late 69.

Engine 99H702V/H1728 is from a 1976 Mini. Yes, it is a different code system. It is the British system.

The boot lock is a rough guide. The last Australian Mini has a 76 boot lock. :lol:

The wiper motor is pretty rough as a guide too. My 3/70 car has the original wiper motor, dated 6/69. :lol:

I was only making a suggestion, the more information/numbers the better base of information you have about the car.

Dean, its a great suggestion, I had forgotten about that... id like to check out the dates on different parts... im thinking the glass wont give me much because so far i have Armoor brand and Perma brand glass... so me thinks some replacements done...
I was once shown how to de-code the marks on the glass but for the life of me, i cant remember now! trying to google it lol...
Morris, thankyou, you have given me heaps to work from now. :) I may be able to run a vehicle history check one day with what i have or i may not...

hey morris why would there be an S=sleeved block??

If it was a brand new block from the factory why would they need to sleeve it???

Because some blocks (eg some Morris 1100S, and 1275A+) had porosity problems when cast. If the bores had flaws and cavities in them, they put the block aside. When they had a bunch, they sleeved them as a batch with a thin dry sleeve.
