Now that I have added an extra 300 mls of oil to my Moke - what impact will it have on performance? and if I dont get answers I want I will post a poll where I will whine and carry on about how unfair everybody is ![]() |

Get ****ed! The 300ml will be sitting on your driveway by now. |

I think the weight of the oil will be offset by the increased viscosity of the oil. You wil have a nett gain of zero, so the moke will be the same speed even though it has more power at the flywheel. ![]() |

On the mokes performance or the oils performance ? With the extra weight of the oil it will force a further 500mls of oil onto your garage floor at a greater speed than if you hadn't added the 300mls . |

I agree with the eloquent awdmoke. |

Where did you put the oil? Putting the oil in different places will have a different effect on speed. |

It is in a container in the back |

I think you must change your user name first, then start the poll |

You need a clear understanding of the oil flow in an A-Series engine. This schematic might help: ![]() |

that piccy is to big can u Make it smaller so it will fit in my 15' screen plz. yes 300ml of oil will make u go faster but depends on how heavy ur foot is and how slow ur gear changes are when u hear those valve bouncing change gears. i was told all this from my Transformer radio cabbage. |

Clearley it will be slower - more work for the pump, and more oil for the gears to turn through will make a massive drag in the driveline. You should drain some out. |

If I drain a little bit out it will go a bit faster, so if I drain all of it out it should fly? |

You'll need wings to make it fly. Maybe replace the oil with Red Bull? ![]() |

I stripped a 1275 motor & S box once that had NO oil in, the owner let it get low because it had Bardahl or Nulon or some other additive, and he had seen how an Alfa GTV made it to Melbourne and back with NO oil (true!). So, he reckoned `she'll be right mate'. ![]() The crank needed .020" off to clean up, and the 1st motion shaft and cluster gear I threw away because the needle rollers had worn through the hardening insde them. Ditto the gearbox mainshaft. I currently have two pretty good 1275 motors here that were run low on oil, both need the crankpins ground due to serious wear. So, don't let that oilz get too low, people! ![]() |
