Post subject:  Put in an oil cooler?

Hi all
body is still being restored & engine not rebuilt yet.
Someone mentioned to me to install an oil cooler.
Do I need an oil cooler?
Put one in what differences will I see?
Cheers
Craig

(Edit) good for track but not necessary for daily driver?

With a good cooling system, good oil in its belly..why bother :?: (just another ancilliary that can cause problems or impede access)

If you are going for a particular look...then fill your boots :D

I measured that it took 25 minutes to warm the oil up to running temperature in a warm 1330 with cooler in mild (neither hot nor cold) weather. This only dropped by five minutes if you went straight out on the freeway.

Unless it's a track car I'd forget it. I took mine off last year. Oil pressure is still the same, except idle pressure after a freeway run is down a little for about 5 mins.
They do not make the engine run cooler.
In daily traffic, they do nothing....

As the good Doc and Mick said .....not worth the hassle unless you are doing a concourse "S" or "GT". Just another storage place for old oil.

Thanks all for the replies.
I will not worry about it, as the good Doc says.
I can save that money & put it towards heaps of other stuff I need.
Cheers
Craig
