or how long is the battery lead after it comes through the floor into the boot? Playing around with the rear end with the subframe out and noting I need a new grommet for the battery lead and think - gee that's short - only have 100mm or 4 inches of lead from the hole to end of the lead minus the terminal clamp -since there is no grommet the lead is at the edge of the hole so reduce it by ½" for a grommet thats 3½" - Is that right or would a bit more be in order? (meaning a whole new lead from go to whoe) |

You do not want the positive cable too short or too tight and the Gromet is very important. Also must make sure the battery has a hold down clamp on it too. Batteries without a hold down clamp have a tendency of working the terminals loose when they move around. Not a good idea. For a Mini best battery to use is an NS50P which has a left hand positive. |

If the battery points in its original (if dangerous for twin tanks) direction, the battery terminals are facing the wheel arch. 4" in this case is enough as the battery is not much taller than the battery box at this point. |

nah... get a battery that goes in with the +'ve near that corner, and you only need 3" |
