Anyone have any idea what size the fan belt should be for a Mk1 "s" with alternator? Picked up a new one today and when I checked it against an old one lying round the shed its longer. New one says 840mm
or 33-1/8" on the package. Both have number 11A0825 but the new Gates one has number 7325 whereas the old Dayco has 15325

These days (mostly) the 1st number is width & the last 3 numbers are the length, in mm.
Your new Gates and the old Dayco one would have been in inches (I just checked my maths). 32.5" = 825mm.

<edit> My Karcraft books says
825 is right for Mini with alternator,
840 for Mk1 S with generator,
813 for Mk1 Mini with generator.
