Hey i need to replace the beaver tail on my mini, i know all about drilling out the spot welds n that stuff, But as for the replacement one where did you get yours from? ive seen them on mini sport think they are like $60 but are they just the cheap Jap one's if so do they line up? Also i dont have to much money at the mo so was thinking or making my mini kinda ruff looking (rat rod Kinda thing) i have a 1310cc motor to go in and was thinking of just doing the pant ruff with some old school pin striping, what do you guys think and has anyone done it before? |

Those panels are going to be the same as you would get from anywhere. I've never fitted one, but I would presume that it's plenty good enough. ![]() |

You'd only get away with it if you used matt black paint and highlighted it with say white, grey and orange pinstriping - i.e. if you're going down that route, do it as best you can. Or as the americans are wont to say "If you're going to be a bear, be a grizzly bear". Unless of course you meant something other than "paint rough" when you typed "pant ruff" ![]() |

Yeah, that would work. You should run steel wheels, fat tyres, as little chrome as possible - it would look neat. Post some pics when you've done it. |

Heya, I got my beaver from the newcastle mini spares place, for around $55, fitted prety good for me, nothing that i would complain about anyway. As for the paint idea, sounds prety good, kinda wich i took da quick/cheap way out, oh well. All the best. |

once you have the old one cut off you'll soon see its a fairly simple job in the scope of things. the replacement panels arent perfect and will need a little persuasion (i needed to make 2 or 3 cuts in the lip so that it rounded the edges properly) but once you have it all clamped on and a few welds in then you'll be on your way |
