Post subject:  Rocker Options

What options are out there for Rockers these days? I think i priced some Yella Terra ones like 10yrs ago and they were about a grand. I was never able to get the cam specs out of GR back in 1999, but he had my cyl head and cam at the same time. So im not sue what would be suitable.

What are you trying to achieve Brad? Going to 1.5 rockers will only give an advantage in the upper rev ranges, typically revs not used around town. 1.5's also need setting up by checking overall lift at the valve to make sure there is sufficient clearance between the retainer and the valve guide seal and that the valve springs won't bind.

My order of preference of 1.5's would be - MiniSpares Keith Dodd non-roller type, then MiniSpares bushed rollers.

If you want something in between, I modify the standard pressed steel ones with my own .044" offset bushes.
This gives a ratio (tested with an RE13 cam) of 1.31:1.
Standard pressed steel rocker measured 1.21:1,
sintered rockers 1.18:1,
S forged rockers 1.16:1, with the same cam.

If the pressed steel rockers are the 1275 variety (oval pads) they give 1.35:1 when offset bushed. I did a set recently for Simon K.

The rockers are bored to clean up, the bushes are pressed into the rockers, then offset bored to size in the mill. This ensures they are all the same geometry.
The rocker pillars are bored and bushed to move the shaft back 1.6mm.
Shaft is a HD thick wall.

PM me if interested.

<edit> I can also do Corolla ones, they give 1.46:1 ratio tested as above. On these, the rocker pillar shaft holes are plugged and welded, then the holes bored 4.0mm back.
