Post subject:  Dark Blue paint colours

I have a mini deluxe which has been respayed in a dark blue which I thought was "Indigo Blue" but when I had some paint mixed it is the wrong colour. :(

Are there any other dark blue colours which were used by BMC in 1967/68 period?
I have found a mini guide which has the following blues, but I can not remember what they all look like?
Marine Blue
"Indigo Blue" I thought this was the colour of my car but not quite right. My blue is darker and blacker.
Baltic Blue
Jay Blue -- I know this is very light blue.
Viareggio Blue

Any help is greatly appreciated..

baltic blue is lighter, not sure about viareggio, but Indigo blue was always the darkest. Have a look on yours up under the dash etc. and see if you can find original paint - maybe someone just decided they wanted the colour that's on it, rather than the actual original...

it does have an indigo blue look about it, but... :?

you might be able to find a buyer for the paint you've bought, and get the colour that's on it matched. I'd offer to buy the indigo blue paint and respray dad's car the proper colour, but he likes it red

I agree it looks like marine blue, I've got a door of my car that's still in the original paint and it's quite similar to your cars colour.

Slight hijack - does anyone have any of the colour chip charts with either Island or Oxford blue in them??

I am heading off to the local Auto One in the morning to try and get some Marine Blue mixed. They usually have trouble finding the correct code as the computers now only seem to have "Leyland" colours? BMC is only in the history books.

Dulux code for Marine Blue is 8449 or 08449
Berger code for Marine blue is 5931.

The Dulux code should be the one that works.

Just thought I might add, I had a 68 MGB that was also very close in colour to this, it was Sapphire Blue.
