cynical attempt to reduce the road tax burden to encourage Malaysians to by binis  If the original bini is good enough to stand on its own as a classic car, there would be no need to drag the original into the discussion.

It would be like Toyota applying to allow current model Corollas to be allowed on club plates because of the 40 year history of the Corolla in Australia.

kind of makes me sick really

Basically it's just an advertising gimick to get the brand noticed , but I still can't see why they would even bother with it ... Maybe Malaysia has the easiest laws , otherwise they'd be trying it in England where all the 50th hype will be . Wonder if Fiat will try it too with the new 500 as Brett suggested with the beetle ? then again , how about the Falcon too ...

Yes, your are right. It's the only car I can think of thats 40 years old and shares at least some components with the first model. Okay, maybe add Morgans as well.

Unlike most 50 year old cars the Ford Falcon has evolved slowly from the very first model that came out in 1959. There was only ever one true all new Falcon all the rest have been evolutions of the previous model.
I wonder if there are any bits from the first model in the current model? I would almost bet that some bolts are the same.

Hmm, maybe some bolts would be the same, but I doubt it.

There are around 5300 parts that make up a VW Beetle (classic). Even though many parts look identical, they are not. There is only one part is the same on all Beetles - the rubber seal for the front bonnet, and even that must be cut to length as the earlier cars had a larger bonnet than the later ones.

Cheers,

I know that some of the Ford bolts were the same after 40 years, so another 10 is not out of the question.
Actually some of the bolts in Ford motors are a lot older than the Falcon.
Does the current Falcon still run the same Z9 oil filter?

Oh dear. Seems you all missed the point.

It is quite clearly only an advertising gimmick designed to get people talking about the brand.

Did everyone miss the little disclaimer at the bottom of the page? "Application for promotional purposes only".

Got you all talking about it though, didn't it.

And it's not even April Fools day.

Cheers,
