Saturday morning pulled in to Leo's Roadhouse at "The Crossroads" to get gas in the 850 and the Morris Minor club were there in force. Going south for the day on a run.
Anyhow, filled up with vortex 98, tried to engage a couple of people from the club in conversation and was pretty much totally ignored.
Obviously the "morris badging" on the 850 doesn't count for much !
WTF
Wankers !!

they're not all like that, some morris minor owners are very nice people, and have minis as well...

Maybe the ones you tried to talk to were just shy? or not good with new people?

Just because you had a non-ideal experience with a couple of Morris owners does not mean they all deserve the title of 'Wankers'. I was tempted to mod that bit out as there is no need for name calling but I know you are just venting so i let it be for now.

Please don't use ausmini as a way of verbally bashing a car club and please don't let this experience taint your opinion of Morris owners

I have had a similar experience with a morris minor club. Oh well, no loss, i like there cars, they didn't like mine.

Some of the members were nice, however most of them were owners of a range of morris cars. The majority of them and the clubs attitude as a whole towards minis was rather negative.

Thats the beauty of clubs, they are designed to suit a particular group of people.

We're not all a&*holes, really :D . The Morris crowd features an older average age, which can make things a bit difficult, though.

I always wave to Minis when I see them, and usually get a wave back...

...not like those uppity MG drivers, think they're sooo special.

it's like they've forgotten what the 'M' stands for!

here's a good one for you - dad has a Minor convertible with a 1275 in it (we can claim it as a mini motor), and the MGB crowd have invited him on one of their runs :) - "Morris Sports" he says

the oldies in their Minors see Mini drivers as young hooligans who only ever want to race their new fangled front wheel drive thingies, too fast, too noisy, too little - doesn't fit in well with the 'craft market' crowd :D

We were probably cutting them off in traffic 20 years ago when they were in their 50's. So they've been holding a grudge ever since.

I wouldn't say all Minor or Morris owners are polarised against Minis but many seem to be. Some think Issy lost the plot after he crafted the Mighty Morrie. :P
My mate is like this, he's into Morris Minors and old cars generally, he hoards and sells antique car spares.
If he finds any Mini parts polluting his parts stash, I get em for free.

As for me, I rather liked the 2 door Morrie 1000, until the Mini came along.. the rest is history.

No it's mine :) It's my fun little run-around while I get my other cars finished, then I'll put some more time into it. Haha, no they're port-a-walls.. I've got a series 2 grille and some nice red steel wheels and trims to go on soon.. 8)
