hey guys just wondering how u all bleed your brakes if u do it the same way we do. What we do is work from the furthest wheel away and pump the pedel to build up pressure then get a mate to undo the bleed valve which has a peice of pipe on it that goes into a bottle with brake fluid. once this is done just pump pump pump till air stops comming out then tighten bleed valve back up and move to next wheel. is this the best way to do it. are there any beta ways????????? thanks |

That way works fine, although I need to do it by myself. I use a glass jar partially filled with fluid. Find a piece of rubber hose to go over the nipple immersing the other end in the fluid in the jar. Open the nipple and pump the peddle to push fluid through. I allow the peddle to flip back up to reload the master cylinder from the resevoir instead of drawing back in through the tube. The weight and viscosity of the fluid works in your favour here, and no air can accidentally get back in through the nipple. Aad that's it. One man bleeding, no expensive bleeding kits required or unhappy helpers. |

Hey Mick How do you know when there is no more air coming out if you are in the car ![]() Also wondering what you mean by "I allow the peddle to flip back up to reload the master cylinder from the resevoir instead of drawing back in through the tube" ![]() Cheers Steve |

The front and rear driver side is easy as the hose alows you to place the jar where you can see it, but for the passenger side I look under the car at the jar while pressing the peddle with my hand or foot to see what is going on. You can lie across the car and hang your head out the passenger door as you press the peddle as well. It can be rather relaxing lying there on the floor... If it's a little less than bright in the workshop, I put a light behind the jar. Panthersteve wrote: Also wondering what you mean by "I allow the peddle to flip back up to reload the master cylinder from the resevoir instead of drawing back in through the tube" ![]() I release the peddle to allow it to fly back to it's starting position as fast as it can. The one way seal in the master cylinder will recharge from the resevoir instead of trying to pull fluid back up the line. It's not really required to do this however. The resistance of the lines due to the length and the fluid viscosity restricts backward flow, as does the restrictive nature of the bleed nipple. I bled the resto's brake system up using this method (as I have for many years) and had the entire system bled to 90 percent in 20 minutes. It works exceptionally well. |

I use the drip method and it works well. Set up a little hose in a container of fluid from the nipple. Loosen bleed nipple sit in car and have a cuppa. Just keep an eye on the fluid level in your reservoir and watch for bubbles in the fluid thats draining from the car. Once you see no more bubbles in the fluid. TIghten the nipple and move to the next wheel. I like this method because I think pumping the fluid through airates it a little and hinders the whole process. Mind you I have had success with the pump method. But this way works as good and is easier. |

The best method for me is to fill the master, open the bleed nipple and get your attractive assistant to pump the pedal quickly 15 times, then close the nipple, do this at each wheel and you will be happy ![]() |

yep i just get the old man to pump the pedal 5 or so times and hold it down. i undo the nipple and then do it straight back up while dads foot is still down. then he can start pumping again and i repeat. you will hear when there is no more air in the system - it wont shoot/spray out the nipple, it will just flow smoothly. keep an eye on the master cylinder once you have done each corner |
