i am wanting to know if it is a straight swap from 10inch to 12inch rims? What affects will it have on handling, suspension. Is there any thing else i should consider?

In most instances you don't have to do anything going from 10" to 12". Worst case you need to put spacer drums on (depending on the offset of the wheels), and/or flares.

Handling with simular tyres is very comparable between 10" and 12", but the range of tyres is greater in 10".
