It seems they just don't open have pulled it around manually to see but nothing. Got new coil again and was running a little rough then started it again and it might as well have be running on one cylinder?? Any ideas why? The coil was replaced by an auto electrician and when i look at the points there doeesn't even appear to be anything on them except metal. Presuming its the condensor. And now it doesn't start after trying to adjust them. |

As wilo said^^ Even if the points are worn down the points will still open if the plastic toe is contacting the distributor shaft as it should. Look at the method you are using to adjust the points, it must be flawed. |

check if there is a point gap and if not adj them untill you have a gap, if you cant do this it may have had a resistive coil fitted without a resister that will cause the points to over heat and melt the plastic, hence no point gap. If this is the case the coil will say "use with resister" and you should replace it with a proper non resistive coil and replace the points. Hope this helps. Regards, David. |
