When I bought my first (and last) NEW car (Fiat 124 Sport) in January 1969, I drove to Canberra, Batemans Bay and back to Sydney. That ran it in nice and fast, so it stayed fast.

I bought a brand new 1998 Subaru WRX in Melbourne. I drove it back to Darwin
It was run in by Adelaide and cracked the ton and a half as I drove through no speed limits of the NT. 8)

Happy times...

I can still remember the exact date, time and car. April 4th 1967[16 years and one day, the cop would not let me sit for driving test on my birthday, so I had to wait 1 day] Then borrowed the old man's brand new 289 XR ford[about 2 days old] and went out on the piss for the night, and s****d my girlfriend in the nice bucket sets :D The old man could not understand why the new jap tyres did not last long :) :)

I bought a new Excel in 1997 in Albury and drove it straight home to Geelong.

I got a new Pathfinder eight weeks ago. I picked it up Sat morning from Blackburn Nissan, drove to Melbourne city and picked up visitors from Europe and took them down the great Ocean Road. At the start of the day the car had 36km on it, but the end of the day it had nearly 1000.

my first car was a 1966 morris mini deluxe.
i had the car for three years befour i got my licance.... in 1999.
i was 21 when i got my licance.
apart from the first drive to vic roads to get it passed i then went out all night just driving.,
first place i went was maca's.
drive threw....then it pissed down like a god knows what ...great melbourne weather..
i was so nervious.....one stage i just stoped and waited for it to stop.
Im like gafmo.....i miss the days where i could just hop in the mini and just drive...and not have to worry about the wife and kids....
gues we just have to wait till we reach retirement and those days may return ...the wife will still be there but hopefully the kids have buggered off...
