What a way to spend a Sat night. Just been pulling my rack out for the first time. I've undone every thing but am struggling with getting the rear of the subframe low enough to pull the rack out. Any tips greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Remove all subframe bolts except the front 2.
Loosen or remove the exhaust.
Pry down the subframe while keeping an eye on the carby, might hit the firewall.

Stupid question, but you haven't supported the car on the subframe have you?

If all else fails, have a beer, look at it, go to bed and tackle it in the morning with a clear head.

Did you undo the front bolts as well? - I found the more they are undone the more you can lower the back - also need to undo the shockers - either end

Good luck with it.
I remember something Dr Mini said - Bolt rack in loosely with U bolts, fit the column, tighten cloumn pinch bolts then U bolts.

I would support the car under the body and not the subframe. Undo and remove all 8 bolts from the rear/towers and back off the 2 front ones. Support the powertrain assy and subframe with a jack and slowly let the jack down. I place a big piece of metal bar under the frame and place the jack under that. I didnt have to undo the exhaust but I did loosen the shifter assy.

I remember my first time also
Its one of thgose thing you
ll never forget that one bolt or something.
I'm Guessing its a One bolt or it the two on the front
try and get the U bolts out before pulling the rack out as they will hinder the rack.
Also spine the rack anty clockwise so the spline is pointing to 7:30 oclock so it passes between the subframe and the fire wall

I had a poke around and couldnt find any attachment anywhere else. This has been my daily for over a year. I felt sick in the guts and faint, so i closed the door and walked away. I hope i find some butchered fixing some where.

late UK front panel, takes rubber teardrop mounts or solid blocks.
Mini King has the mounts.
