I went twice as mad when I helped a bloke do his car. Some -one ahd stuffed the R.H axle at some stage and yep they had put a L.H. one in to replace it  Two LH threads

I paid 41.30 per side (Timkens) delivered from minispares UK late last year. It was with a pile of other bits and bobs, so made the 10 days delivery worth the wait. |

They seem to fit OK, but I do wonder what reputable bearing company would not brand their product..... 
A somewhat related issue... I fitted 2 new CVs for Josh (Mini Mad) today. Both were in the same Oetiker boxes, one was 7/8" UNF thread, the other was 22mm (32mm hex size). Both threaded bits were the same length and the pin holes were in the same place.. But....... The 22mm nut and its slots was so tall, that when assembled we could not even see the pin hole in the CV.
I had to machine the castellated ring off the nut, then mill another slot 5mm deep (in the right place) for the split pin. Also, the metric one's splines would not fit through the bearings, there were burrs on top from the machining process that the maker didn't worry about. I had to put it in the lathe and polish it down a few thou.

I recently did my CV's and used "Motorchamp" brand CV's. Fitted perfect just in case perspective CV changer's want to know

Last thursday I was at CBC brgs at regency park to get set of new front brgs for the discs.They were GOOD timkens made in france[matched sets with spacer and seals] $60 per side and while I was there I noticed that they now carry CV joints and shafts. I priced a complete inner and outer cv with new axle as complete unit and was quoted $120 per side. They did not have any mini ones in stock but could get them. The sales bloke said that they were made in either Tiawan or Korea. might be worth looking at them |

I had the opposite problem with the CV's, the split pin holes are too far from the hub
I have triple checked and I have all the required parts in there, spacers, seal runners, etc. but I am going to need to run two washers to make it work
Has anyone else had this problem? |

Yep I know exactly what you are on about. The quality of the new nuts are like the ones above. One type of nut is short and the other is taller. As well as this the quality of the threads are crap as well. I stopped in at Coventrys (a local nut and bolt franchise) with one of the nuts and picked up a new pair for $11.00 per side. The replacements are good quality, well threaded and much taller than the nut you get these days from the usual part suppliers. You can put a socket and bar on it and lean on it without the risk of the socket rolling off, and the thread is full depth, high quality. You can feel the difference as it screws on. |
