Post subject:  Upgrade Question

Hey,

I was wanting to get some advice. I am looking at spending some money and i didnt know where on my mini to put it.

I have a set of disk brakes on the mini already (just 2 pot, solid disks) and the suspension as far as i can tell is good.

I was wondering if the money would be better spent on a brake upgrade or a suspension upgrade?

Thanks Blake

Good brakes, good suspension would mean it's now earnt some engine mods in my book :)

Unless you want to make the interior all new again...

Well when i get my engine it will be good for a while (1275cc with .30bore abit of head work et etc.) and the interior is pretty good condition considering it has never been touched.

Suspension: new poly bushes, hi-los, adjustable tie rod and lower arms.
or even forget the hi-los and go for adjustable Spax coil overs if you are really looking to fork out some cash

MMM Fluffy dice that could work rather well!!!

I was thinking coil overs but i wasnt sure which would be better (brakes or suspension) to upgrade first.

I also thought bout tyres but would i get more out of $900 worth of tyres or $1000+ worth of suspension? I know they all kinda work hand in hand and thats why i dont really know where to start

Thanks

What tyres cost $900??? I dont think my Formula R's were that dear? But they DID make a hell of a difference to handling.

what tires you got currently?
what are you looking to achieve by doing all this work?

That is always the most important question to ask, no point having roack hard suspension if you are just driving to work, or having the softest tires for driving to the bus stop.

The sticky Yokohamas will set you back that much.

they are not needed if the only time you drive your mini 1.5km to the bus stop and home again then lock it in the car hole till monday rolls around again.

Yeh for 4 yokos would be about $880 plus postage etc.

Well i'll be driving it 25ks to work and home 5 days a week. And then head out to the mountains on weekends for some legal fun. Im also looking at getting into some basic racing.

Ive got the Sime tyres that came with rims. I havent actually driven on them yet so im not sure what they are like.

I got the Dj93 Formula Rs for 500 fitted from Stuckeys...I don't know how they compare for wear however, the DJ93 tyre is as soft a bubblegum.
