was just wondering how much an unregistered vehicle permit is in victoria and how long they last as i need to get meeni roadworthied and regoed but i need to take it somewhere to have a look at what needs doing also. dont want to trailer it everywhere either as it needs a good run to clear the motor out a bit

I think they're $60 for 30 days.

You're restricted to driving in daylight hours and are supposed to be within 3 km of home (for test driving purpose) or going to or from a mechanic.

7am to 7pmto and from place of repair garage /panel shop $35.00aprox firstday $1.50extra perday .28 day max per permit must be safe canfind the full info on vicroads site

aquired one today... was good to give meeni a run again havnt done that for a while. next question lol, my fuel and brake lines run straight along the floor and dont go the same way that the original ones do.. will i get pinged on a roadworthy for this? or as long as they are secure and well run will i be fine.. need to know this soon

If its isn't authorised to issue a RWC, your nicked, $567 for unregistered, if you can spare that much every time you drive the car to work with the Permit, then Keep doing it, if Not, STOP it now....

I can attest to this also.

DON'T DRIVE IT TO ANYWHERE OTHER THAN A LICENSED RWC VEHICLE TESTER.

It is NOT a permit to "test drive", there is no law about 3 KM FROM HOME...

to a RWC tester or nowhere.

I learnt that the hard and expensive way.

READ THE FINE PRINT ON THE BACK / PAGE 2 OF THE PERMIT.

Its not really relevant but i found it a hoot that in NSW you must have a permit to the drive a vehicle with expired registration for inspection/re-registration. ...but, you can do the same thing for free if the car is not registered.....

Go figure.

So, hand the plates in (or take em off), go get a blueslip, then go to RTA and get a full 12 months rego for your money, not the time discounted one they give with a late pinkslip.

be careful tho. The laws are there for a reason. We got pulled over and almost got fined driving my sisters clubman. We had got a permit, drove it to get its RWC, after it passed, and then was driving it home (in daylight hours etc, all legit) and the policeman tried to fine me for driving with a legit roadworthy certificate PLUS an unregistered vehicle permit (also legit). I got so bewildered as he was trying to tell me I was breaking the law and should park the car and go get a trailer. I just couldn't comprehend it. After some negotiating he let me drive the car. But do any of you boys in blue know if this is the case? Upon obtaining a RWC, are you required to cancel the unregistered vehicle permit to then drive it home?
