When I drive the mini around, commonly in third or fourth gear and I tap the accelerator on/off quickly there is a noticable thud sound.
I thought the engine stabilisers were worn, so fitted new ones, and I even put in a third stabiliser altogether.

The noise still exists but isnt as loud. Do all minis do this or have I missed something else?
:?

Is it a 1275?
It could be the harmonic balancer rubber worn if it is a 1275. That can also give you an audible knock on idle.

Also if it is a Rover check the sub-frame mounts.

Engine is an 1100 unit. Haven't checked the subframe mounts, will do tomorrow.
