I have been looking at wheel options for my project car and like these: http://www.minispares-online.co.uk/?cat_id=1&sub_cat_id=15&prod_id=1989 Has anyone got a set/ know someone with a set? What flairs cover them? Do I have to cut the guards? The item description mentions body modifications needed but does not say what they are. Can't wait to be finished at the end of june so I can get stuck back into the project. I've decided not to buy another alfa and instead put the money into the cars I already have and save the rest. |

i've got 12x6 Watanabe's (japanese minilight copy), though not on the car in my avatar. they fit under steel cooper s flares with regular brake, my metro brakes push the rubber out of the flares by 10-15mm. mine scrub like buggery on the internal flare that holds the external flare on. Can barely get in my drive or around a round-a-bout without carving my tyres..... so i need to do something about it. i reckon with cut guards and bolt on flares they'd be fine i'll try and post some pics soonish, but that'll only be rear as my fronts have got steelies on at the moment and in the middle of moving house, so not much time. cheers. |

Hi woodwormm, I have the Watanabe wheels as well, in the process of getting cleaned up and painted. I'm interested to see how bad it scrubbed on the guard. I guess no way of getting away from cutting the guard huh? Daniel |

How about the other factors , how low is your mini , what profile are your tyres etc . If the mini's been lowered then raising the suspension back to standard may reduce the scrubbing . Check everything else out before cutting the guards if you can . |

The car is still a bare shell so details like ride height, tires, ect have not been worked out. What I really want to know is if anyone has these or similar wheels did they have to cut the guards? I'd rather buy different wheels than cut the guards. |

yeh these rims are hot. id also like a set. if you do cut your guard will you need to respray anything even if you have the wood & picket flares they sit pretty side. |

I was looking at group 2 or 5 arches, whichever will cover the wheels and retain the chrome moulding down the side of the car. I am going for a 60s Austin cooper s look but with a few secrets under the skin. |

no cutting no re spraying the paint does not crack as they use heat to bend it slowly. http://www.guardrolling.com.au/ they are all over costs about 90 to 150 for 2 guards. them guard rolling places are for more modern cars where the lip of the panel is on the inside of the arch. they roll it up into the inside of the arch out of the way of the tyre. with a mini the lip is on the outside of the arch and cant be done. cutting would be the only option. |

I just got a email reply from huddersfield spares: Thanks for your email. You need to cut out the front wing, from the bumper line to about half way up. This is for the wheel clearance. Nothing needs to be done on the rear. The best arches to go with these wheels would be the GP4 arches, which cover the wheels nicely. or you can go 12x5 deep dish & you don't need any body mods or new arches if you have some allready. |

i just Bought the for the 12 x 5 deep dish rims with the Yoko A539's come to $890 to my door in Qld. no cutting guard no buying new guards. here they are on a uk mini 6 days..
