Just got back from 3 days at Mt Panorama "flagging" on Hell Corner....
Some awesome racing going on across all classes...
About 9 Minis either racing or doing regularity....
But Ben Tebbutt was just in a class of his own in "Under 2 litre" Historic Touring and Sports combined....
After 2 laps had more than pit straight lead on the rest of the field - distant second MGB....
On a damp track Ben was lapping at 2min 52 ! Dry 2.51...
There were only about 4 "over 2 litre" cars lapping quicker !
The mini was absolutely screaming... very impressive to see...
though sadly some mechanical issues I believe (including clutch change Saturday morning (?)) and failed to finish Saturday's race.
This put him towards the back of the field for Sundays 3 lap dash -
by lap 2 into 3rd (having passed must have been 20+ cars) and last lap into 2nd...
and pursuing 1st...
Race control mucked up and they forgot to put out the chequered flag
- so lap 4 started.... but was stopped...
would have loved them to let it go the full lap....
And with rain on and off over the weekend - a few spins to see ....
and a big historic Falcon who attempted to ram the flag point
- the gravel trap pulled him up inches from the tyre barrier...
both feet on the brakes he told us...
And the organisers (FOSC) get a huge pat on the back for looking after the officals....
all too often it's fend for yourself.... but here they provided :
Cooked brekkie every morning.... (mmm bacon and egg rolls)
Subway rolls delivered for lunch...
Dinner also laid on.... (RSL on Friday night including bus to and from track)
Free camping at the track or cheap bunkhouse accomodation....
So a cheap weekend of motorsport viewing !
(Sadly didn't get any pics...)
Hope Ben has some footage like his previous effort:

Better get back to garage and getting my car going.....
