Anyone know any good places in sydney to get a shell paint stripped?

Looking at some form of media blasting but from quotes i've received ringing around they are from $1-3000 depending where you go and what they use...

The shell has a bit of rust and want to get it back to bare metal so it can all be seen and removed.

Redistrip in Bessemer St blacktown
Soda Blast as per Anton's mini experience articles
Claude from Impact Glass Beading in Romford Rd Blacktown/kings park.

I've used options 1&3 - 1 for hanging panels and doors; 3 for the shell.
whilst claude is a friend, if I had my time over I would probably try options 1or2 if I had another shell to do. Not that there is anything wrong with grit blasting, I just think option 1 leaves a better finish.

I've heard lots of negatives about SodaBlast - not about the job itself but with issues getting the paint to adhere to the shell after

Thanks for the link, I see you used Austec, they seem great but the quote of $2800+250 for a sealer was too much $$$ :(

Why not try stripping it yourself? This looks pretty effective, and cheap!

I paint stripped mine, took a lot of time.
Depends on the number of coats of paint, how much bog , original primer etc.
Can cost a fair amount for the paint stripper. I got mine from bunnings, I think about $66 (I think) a tin & used about 6 tins.
After the stripping put on etch primer soon after. It took many months to do the whole car. Thats outside, inside the mini (whole car).
I would consider blasting next time.

I still had to blast under the bonnet, boot lid & roof gutter, near the seams. This was to remove some surface rust that was not really accessable with other tools. Dont get rid of the surface rust it may come back to bite you.
Best to use plastic media blast in certain areas so the temperature doesnt effect the outer skin.
Inside the bonnet I had a couple of minor surface rust areas. had to use a harder blast for the rust. This affected the outer skin. After filing the skin I still had to use a bit of body filler.

Good luck with all

Josh you lazy git, Paint strip it and knotted wire wheel. It took me about 8 hours to do the van and about 10 hours to do the cooper S.... One tin of paint stripper for each. It's messy but it is cheap and effective.

Austech at Chipping Norton did a great job on my van... The first time it was stripped  Those plastic mesh stripping discs for grinders work extremely well, noisy and a little time consuming but sure will not cost you anywhere near 3K
