Post subject:  Tacho wiring - help..

Hi there,

I am restoring a 75ClubmanS. This car did have the clock in it but I have been given a tacho to replace the clock with.
I have had the instruments out and seen the white wire sitting there (which is joined with male-female bullet connection). However the lugs on the back of my tacho do not seem to explain themselves as to how I should wire it up.
I don't want to risk wiring it up the wrong way and stuff the tacho.
Below are some pictures of my tacho, I was hoping that someone might be able to assist me as to what goes where (I have labeled the lugs on the tacho A, B and C).
Thanks

From memory, the pin A was for the dizzy signal. Wire to the -ve terminal on the ignition coil. That leaves B and C for the +ve and -ve terminals....just gotta work out which is which....

D is the instrument light. Wire +ve and -ve to one side and the other.

I'll give that a go thanks Mick, I think the terminal 'C' is the earth as it lines up with the printed circuit.

Does anyone know if I can fry the thing by putting the wrong wires on for a second?

I reckon you're right, that's the main earth going around the printed circuit.
