I have a Mk1 car & getting a Mk2 Cooper S wiring harness. The wiper for the car at present is single speed & r/h park. It works, connected pin 2 & 3 to a battery. Looking at the wiring diagrams, both Mk1 & Mk2 have single speed & 3 wires to the wiper motor. Do they return to the park position when the switch is selected off? Should I get the wiring for 2 speed wipers added, just in case I put in a 2 speed wiper later? Are 2 speed wipers better? Any difference with motor size, shape? Do they attach to same wiper rods? |

Any difference with motor size, shape? Do they attach to same wiper rods? Mk1 and Mk2 wiper motors (sq vs round) have a different rack travel, and different wheelboxes to suit. Also the motor mounting holes on panel are different. Yes they do park when turned off. If you fit a round motor to the old square motor's rack, the wiper arms will swing 180° = too much. Need to swap the wheelboxes too. Last Mk2s and Police ones had the 2 speed Clubby motor, there is a thread here with the right wiring and switch details. see http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... peed+wiper In your case I would add an extra wire, long enough to go from the motor to switch- but leave it disconnected for now. Here's the wiring in mine now, with 2 speed Clubby motor. Switch is MGB one. ![]() |

Heritage MG stocks them. The toggle on it looks similar to a Mini one, but it has less angular movement between the positions. ie when up (off) it sits a little lower than your headlight switch does. http://www.mgspareparts.com.au/index.ph ... &Itemid=26 |

You can make the round motor (1 or 2 speed) park on RH side simply by turning the drive pin plate 180° on the plastic gear. I tried this and it works. ![]() If easier for you I can show you how to make the square motor have 2 speeds (or variable speed), PM me for details. |
