This may seem odd, I'm not sure.

The interior of my project car is a mess. There is blue paint, white paint, a yellowy waxy stuff, a yellowy glue stuff, a black butumen type product and all hare-fibe carpet underlay glued over the lot.
Luckily the worst stuff is the front wheel arches, so easy access to remove. The rear is only in paint.

When I'm finished with the interior, it will have Dynamat all over every square inch on the floor, firewall and rear seat.

What I'm asking is for opinions on what to do before I lay the dynamat. I don't want to paint strip everything out and paint it if it wont be seen, but at the same time I wouldn't want to go over the existing crap as it is either.

What would other people do as prep?

It softens the paint, but will take the newer cheaper paints off first. it will eventually rub off the original paint as well if you go at it hard and long enough.

Nope, but it'll dissolve all the tar and adhesives, and should give you a nice clean painted surface if you don't go too hard at it.
