Hey Guys,

A couple of questions. Hope you can help.

1. On my van there is this black thing with three pipes on it. One goes to the filler neck, one goes to the tank and one goes to a piece of fuel pipe that runs under the car and is crimped at the other end. Firstly is this meant to be crimped and secondly, what is this all about?

2. How do you make a wiper motor self set back to the bottom. Mine is two speed but believe this means it should.

I have more but have to go watch so you think you can dance now. I will be back. ( my girl friend makes me....... honest :)

re Q2-
If it's a round motor, the parking sliprings in the motor (or the contacts) have probably carked it. Water gets into the motor and corrodes them.
Mini King has new sliprings in stock..

Q1 - If it is in the back it will be a vapour separator tank. The hose that goes to to the front and is crimped would either end up at the Carby or fuel pump for return fuel/vapour. Is it a late model van?

In my Black book , on a late van it's the vapour line, goes forward to the charcoal canister.

ok cool. Will it matter that it is pinched off then? My guess is your answer will be " yes you idiot" but I have to ask.

It's the tank vent, if you crimp it off the air can't get in, therefore fuel can't get out. Unless the cap is vented, or leaks!

Hey Doc and everyone, Thanks!

So.... Do you think this could cause poor performance on long drives? It used to happen sometimes when driving down to gippsland. It would start backfiring a bit and juddering under accelleration. I don't think this would be related as when I took the fuel cap off it would still do this after wards. It was one of those things that always confused me about this engine.

Thanks again.
