Had 3 small bubbles showing on the bottom of the door so took to it with a wire wheel - well turns out to be a lot of bog filling a rusty hole. Ended up using the heavy duty knotted wire on the angle grinder. It's along the bottom seam and there's a couple of holes going right through.

Quickest and easiest is to re-bog it but what is the best way? Can this sort of thing be filled with a MIG ? or is it too thin. there will be more rust out of sight probably should I chase it further or just pour rust converter in there?

I'd slip a section of metal inside the door, then mig it up, spacing spot welds along the hole so that the panel does not distort. Grind it back & bog it up. Then attack the rust inside with rust-eater. It will then probably be good for another 30 odd years.

What he said ^^^ but I'd cut a bit higher, and straight... on good metal.
When I did my VK Valiant, I had to cut 1/2 way up the bloody door!
I butt (backstep welded it) 1" at a time, it didn't distort much at all.
I would seam weld it all round if you want it to last....

You could look at a replacement door, then you know its clean without rust and bog.

its not that bad - nothing a a couple of hours with welder wont fix and you getthe satisfaction of fixing it by hand instead of credit card.

When's the last time you saw a spare 850 door out here, without any rust or bog....
Any that are good, are on those Pretend UK Cooper S racecars they call group Nb... :P

I suppose at least you CAN buy new UK doorskins for an 850 door- but IMO it's more work than fixing yours.
