well i got the brakes fixed on Viv, (holy cr$p the master
cylinder was a leaky thing but there was carpet
stuff underneath so you never noticed, but now she stops
like a real car, however going is beginning to become a problem,
the g'box is ok but it is obviously on its way out, so my question
is what happens when they just wear out and let go? it jumps
out of second and when i changed the oil last week (and i change it
regulaly) it bout tears to my eyes to see bits of vivs internals
in the oil (metal bits) and i have been real gentle on her box (haha sorry)
i think it is time she gets a new one, out comes the wallet

How much metal fragments were there? JAM's sump plug was well coated with metal filings.....but that was it.

there was stufff on the plug and about 6 bits of metal
just lying in the sump tray, so it is more than just filings on
the plug which worrys me, she looks too good to have a
dodgy engine and g'box (shes like cher, new looking on the
outside, but old on the inside   )
meanwhile the engine is great so that must have had a reco
but they ran out of money and slapped the old box on

sounds like what I was going to do with JAM...... :?

I am going to save my bikkies now and get a box overhaul done.

Chris, I wouldn't worry too much...you heart and wallet lies with Elmo...Viv is just transport.

By the way....my lancer is stuffed with hail damage. If they write it off, I am going to put Pops on full rego and use him as my daily driver

does a lancer engine fit in a mini engine bay?

you might ask "is it worth it" but whats a lancer write going to do with a perfectly good engine?

Gee it must be a clubman thing... I've changed the oil 3 times since I've had Lillee and all 3 times the magnetic sump plug came up empty... or at least very very little metal bits... Then again I have an 1100 clubman engine...
