What is needed for compliance in a Rover Mini?
Does a roll cage help for side impact etc?

Roll cage ..... No.
Needs the kit fitted to the door and a few other bits and bobs......cant think of them at the moment......but if you can buy one thats already done im sure it would be more cost effective especially if you are planning on changing the engine at a later date......

You need intrusion bars fitted into the doors, and retractable seatbelts fitted into the back, both involve a bit of cutting and or welding.
A handbrake warning light needs to be fitted, and in some stated new tyres and brakes too. There's other little things of course as well.

If the car is left hand drive that also needs to be converted over.

You forgot a child seat restraint, rear windscreen mounted stop lamp. Potentially new windscreen (depending on the thickness of the glass). Though I guess these are minor compared to putting in side intrusion bars.

+ Add "unleaded only" flap to fuel tank neck, and in depending on how anal the inspector is, need to fix head rests to seat and / or remove wire from sun visors. PITA.

And people wonder why Brickworx has moved on from this game....

One should never skimp on the zip ties.

Mine has neither of these and is rego'ed in NSW.
The things that have been done are;
Door intrusion bars
Retractable seat belts in rear also new belts in front
Child restraint points in rear (rear parcal shelf has to be strengthened)
Hand brake light
Engine tuning placard under bonnet
Tyre placard in boot
Plus you will need the normal things for rego like brakes, lights, windscreen ect.
I think that is all that has been done to mine.

would be best to speak to an engineer who can perform certifcation for compliance, i dont know any myself,would be great though if somebody whos done there own compliance in victoria lets us know who they have used as there are a few of you out there,last quote we got to do the job was $1800 a year ago with us supplying a cat back exhaust,cheers

Well you would think so wouldn't you, but last time I looked the small filler neck and unleaded label were still in the book as a requirement! Where's the logic in that?

yes but you live in QLD, and non of the rules up there make sense.

Dotars have removed some outdated ADRs from the books. But as registration is under state control it is up to each state to enforce the rules.

But... If you could afford a Constitutional lawyer you could challenge the state rules under the Australian Constitution (I can't think of the section number but it is the bit about Federal laws over-riding State laws)
