Post subject:  FRONT DOOR POCKET LINING

Is there some kind soul out there that can send me a photo of how to repair the lining to the front door pocket of my 1967 Cooper S?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

They look in decent condition, so won't need replacing. It's a common problem as the old glue loses its grip.

Easily repaired with contact adhesive on both the vinyl and the card with a 10 minute wait before sticking the two together. Keep some turps on hand on a rag to wipe up any spills on the good side of the vinyl.

Thank you for your response.

I was wondering whether there should be something more solid at the ends where the piece of metal with the two holes is. It would seem to need a small horizontal section of something. I was wondering what they originally would have looked like.

Regards

You can put screws with cup washers through the card and into the small bracket you can see in the photo. But I don't think they always were from the factory? anone else know?

Never seen the screws or nuts as described on any mini I've seen. I'm no expert, but seen quite a few original minis in my time.

I've seen them in the rear pocket near the ash tray, and I'm sure that bracket was designed to have it done...but maybe they saved themselves the screws

Yeah,

Probably saved tuppence on the screws, as the ashtray clips hold the trim down, as well as stopping the ashtray jumping out on bumpy roads (especially when your hydro's low)
