Is it possible and what extra bits are needed to fit a set of SC A+ gears in to a older remote change box.

Provided it is a 4 synchro remote change box then yes. The A+ layshaft needs to be modified (my preferred way). The first step on the layshaft, 1st gear end, needs to be ground back to allow the layshaft to protrude thru the centre web to allow the lock plate to engage the slot in the layshaft. If you dummy up the shaft in the gearcase you will see what needs to be done.

The layshaft is very hard, so I have the machine shop use their crank grinding machine. Best to drop off the gearcase and layshaft and explain what has to happen and they will fit the shaft to the case.

The other way is to chamfer the gear case where the layshaft goes thru, but not my preferred way to do it.

The mainshaft needs to be the later 18mm type and will need the small A+ laygear thrust washer, the one for the 1st gear end.

You will need to use the earlier primary/imput & idler gears as well, as the idler gear on the A+ gearbox has bigger shafts/bearings and wont fit in the early box. OR you could possibly have the gearcase/transfer housing machined to suit the larger bearings, I have only used the early gears but the 2nd method may work.
