Post subject: | Fuel tank gasket |
My fuel tank gasket that seals the sender unit to the tank is leaking, so I have obtained a new one, question is do I need to use any form of a sealant or gasket goo on it? or nothing? thanks |

Nothing. When you turn the bayonet ring it clamps it down evenly. ![]() |

yeah its on an early 64 850. With 8 little screws. So i guess the screws alone will do the job? |

Should work OK just with a new gasket, but a bit of gasket cement won't hurt. DON'T USE SILASTIC!! I did once on an outboard tank gauge gasket. The silicon got into the fuel and floated around like a cloud, periodically blocking the strainer... ![]() |

Thanks to all who responded, I couldn't find any gasket cement, so just put the gasket on carefully and tightened it all up, washed the boot and outside of the tank down, dried everything off, and put more fuel in the tank, NO LEAKS!!! YES!!! So thanks to all. ![]() |
