Post subject:  New disk brake kits

looking at buying a new disk brake kit this week.

just wondering if anyone has used minisports (adelaide) NEW 7.5'' new disk brake kits?

how do these compare to the genuine cooper s kits??
dont have brake booster, just a strong foot

or should i spend the extra $300 and get the 8.4'' kit?

Regards
Matt

you're stuffed when it comes to running 10" wheels with 8.4" brakes, you mightn't care now, but one day you might decide you want 10"s

besides, good 2nd hand 8.4" setups can be bought cheaply - $1000 less than what you're looking at there

It's unusual for the 8.4" sets to be dearer than the 7.5" sets... :? A year ago, the 8.4" set was about £100 cheaper in the UK than the 7.5" set. The difference wasn't always that big out here, given we don't have thousands of post-84 Minis around, but it was still generally cheaper to buy 8.4" discs than S discs...

Post subject:  7.5 discs

Hi Leema,

I understand these discs are good quality and the price is pretty good (you may find them cheaper in Vic, but then pay for transport...), I would go the 7.5" if there is any chance you may decide to go 10" wheels, maybe someone else will tell us how much better 8.4" is?

the only reason i wanted to go 8.4 was i dont have a booster.

but dads had 7.5'' in his mini with no booster for ever and i drive it quite offten and dont have a problem with the brakes being to hard to push.

Boosters are for weak people, man up and don't worry about it  just get a set of 7.5" discs and you'll be fine without a booster.
