Post subject: | Engine/gearbox whine ... why |
hey all, heres the problem... wen i sit on around 2000rmp my engine/gearbox starts to whine... then at around 3000rmp it goes away... it happens in every gear. (i think i remember it happening with my 1100cc b4 i spwapped it... so must be gearbox) also in traffic wen i try and creep forwards (clutch fully out, minimal acceleration) it starts to jump forward almost like im bunny hopping... but it makes the same whine. the jumps get closer and closer as i get faster untill it stops. (hard to explain) changes gear fine... stays in gear ect... not a problem apart from the noise. its done it since i got it... ne ideas? |

I would be checking the top engine steady pretty quickly. As for the whine, not sure. The one in the passenger seat seems to dorwn everything else out. ![]() |

yeah the engine steady's hold the engine very still...got the 2 top ones and the lower one that attaches to the gearbox... so there's no movement in the engine. |

![]() Crackers, Nibblies, Pate, Olives and.......... WHINE ![]() Simon...... funny guy ![]() Do you have a a rattly sort of noise (even at idle) that goes away when you put your foot on the clutch? (Could be idler bearings or primary gear bush?) Also just cause you cant move your engine at the top doesn't mean the bottom engine mounts aren't stuffed! |
