Hi all, both myself and a couple of people I know wanted to know what the reliability was like with minisport UK. Do they stuff up often, what are their delivery times like, etc, etc.
Any opinions?

OK maybe this isn't fair, but...

I ordered some door and window rubbers off Minisport UK, maybe 10 years ago.
They did get here, 10 weeks later...
Some dill put them on a boat....

Not really. I ordered 850 Mk1 door rubbers, and they were too narrow to seal my windup doors... :x

I have ordered lots from Minispares for years, and never had anything go missing. But freight is a killer now, if UPS etc get to ship it.

Guess they have lifted their game then. I didn't mean to imply they were still crook on delivery.

My mate (ex work colleague) Dave Gray, the Nb racer got a new 1275 crank from there years ago.
The freight bill (not sure which courier) was about 2x the cost of the crank...

I've had good service. When the parts are sent with tracking you can view online the parts progress airport by airport. I've had turnarounds of only a few days as well as the more usual 10 to 14 day waits.

Trouble is you are often in the dark about freight costs as they don't usually quote as you order over the net.
Mind you, the shop opens its doors at 6PM Melbourne time, so its often just as convenient to call your order through and ask a few questions while you're there. Cheap too these days.

I started deaaaling with minisport about 25 tears ago annd apart from the odd bit which might of been out of stock at time of order have not had any problems, it did used to take about 8 weeks for large orders to arrive as the cost of airmail back then was $$$$$$$$$$$ but that really hasn't changed much, there parts were always good and did what they were suposed to

Now days there are so many places willing to sell parts over the net we are spoilt for choice and now most bits arrive in a week but we do pay for the speed

As far as im concerned most parts these days from local suppliers are pretty competitivley priced, minispares at Padstow have damn good prices, very competitive to Karcraft.

I source bits here if possible and ring around. Only if there's a big saving do I bother importing from UK now.

Thats the thing, on my part, I need wings, an apron, boot floor, assorted repair panels, and door skin. So far, anywhere from MG heritage to minisport in SA, the price from the UK is almost half.
That is including freight!
I want to support local guys, but to save $500 means a lot.

The locals bring their panels in a container. They are the right shape. Yours may not be after being manhandled to your door from UK....
One Sydney ex-menber here had a panel crushed bad, and it only had to come from SA.

If you do decide to buy from the UK make sure you take transit insurance and make ssure you check the goods before you sign for them and any damage is noted, if its saving you money go for it, just give the locals a chance, miniking and Karcraft are usually the cheapest in Sydney
