So i've lost indicators, brake and reverse lights. The indicator fuse blew twice in two days and now i've lost everything.

The flasher unit works but there was a concerning *buzz*-click! *buzz*-click! before every flash of the indicators the last time i used them before they died.

I'm assuming it's an earth but can't find it anywhere.

Any ideas?

What model is your car?

First I would go to each corner of the car (starting at the back) and remove the lenses looking for any reason the lights might short out within the light fittings. check the brake , indicator and reverse contacts. Remove the bulbs one at a time and check if the fault remains.

Follow the wiring at the back of the light fittings as far as you can go and look for mechanical shorts. It might be an easy one, so check this thoroughly.

Second I would find up under the window wiper panel where the wiring loom splits the indicators to the front or back of the car and take one off at a time testing the indicators as you do so. If the fault remains with both disconnected, then it will be with another circuit. But we'll deal with this once you've tried the obvious checks.

oooh, not ofay onthe rover wiring loom and where everything splits out, but the theory is the same.
Do the easy checks from light fitting to light fitting looking for obvious damage.
Isolate the fault as far down as you can (front/rear, left or right)
And act once you have an idea of what's wrong.

Sounds like a faulty flasher unit blowing ur fuses. Get a replacement, 5 - 10 bucks.

while your at it...check and clean Earths

Does it blow the fuse when you use both blinkers or only one? (just trying to narrow down the search)

What were you doing or what was switched on or off when it did blow the fuse both times? Was it when you turned your indicators on, pushed the brake pedal, etc etc......??

You must of lost all your Lucas wiring smoke. Replacement Lucas wiring harness smoke is available at selected stores.

Checked the flasher unit - at least one that i found - and it's good.





It was going *buzz*-click! with both indicators.

The fuse blew twice in a row while using the indicators and then the next time i turned the car on i had no indicators, reverse or brakes.

From what i can tell from the info given I would be doing as previously mentioned and replace said flasher can/unit and blown fuse/s and go from there.

You havn't by chance disturbed and wiring under the dash with your feet?
Is there any corrosion build up around your indicator globes/sockets or brake light sockets?
maybe you indicator stalk switch has a loose wire which is shorting somewhere.........
Start with the flasher can and fuses and go from there......
