Either---> The sender is stuffed & the car is still running perfect temp & the guage is just tricking you or the thermostat is stuffed & it`s actually is running hot within 5 mins ![]() Edit,,, or maybe you`ve bumped the temp sender wire off the sender & it`s resting against the block or head ![]() |

Does the temp sender run through the voltage regulator? What does the fuel gauge say? Check if the voltage reg on the back of the speedo is not getting the full 12volts to the temp gauge, if it is replace the voltage reg. |

ok took the thermostat out and ran it with no thermostat and it took ages for it to get up to normal but it did get there and was still climbing when turned it off. mechanical guage was running fine. is running through the voltage regulator. |

The car should run dead cold if there is no thermostat fitted (like 1/4 on the guage) that is "IF" all else is perfect & a mechanical guage is a Capillary type,,, an electric guage would run through a voltage stabilizer (or not) but it`s electric,,,, so you have an electric guage then. sounds like you have another problem then check (with the rad cap off & the rad filled with water) & see , while the car is running< if there is any consistant bubbles comming up to the top of the rad,,, & maybe bigger , more frequent bubbles after a rev or 2 |
