Post subject:  Moke owner hit by truck?
Just heard on Fox FM news a moke was hit by a garbage truck thismorning (in Oakleigh?) where apparently the driver was thrown five metres from the car! :shock:
Does anyone know who this might be or if they're okay?

The south bound lane of Warrigal Rd has been closed.

This is so scary. As a Moke owner you always know how close you are to death driving in the things, so its always bad to read this. Its also scary to think that my first experience in a moke was standing up in the back as a young teen throwing newspapers out from the back, all the while holding onto the roll bar thing. Good times, but deadly potentially... but still.. good times. :D

I'd say that's a case of the reporter not knowing, other than it looks a bit like a jeep

the garbage truck must've been hooking along - the green waste truck in our street goes too fast

Hope the Moke driver pulls out ok.

There needs to be a crackdown on people who are on the road making a living. Within a week, on the route that I drive to work (not during my commuting hours) two taxi drivers have been involved in, and been at fault of two seperate fatalities. One was just down from work, a 100km/h dual lane hwy, the taxi driver dropped a group of 17y/o's, went and did a u turn up the road and when coming back hit on of the kids. The 17y/o boy died on the scene. The other was a taxi driver pulling out crossing a dual lane road (same road, but in built up area, 70km/h) and was t-boned. Driver of the taxi died.

I'm sure these are just a minority of people who use our roads to make a crust, but I feel that a large percentage of dangerous drivers on the road are made up by these people.

I know this guy (not personally) and used to see him driving around delivering papers all the time when in lived in Bentleigh.

I used to see this guy most mornings when I spent a lot of time in Brighton. He was always out and about in his little moke doing his rounds, rain, hail or shine, always gave a toot and flash and got one in return.

I hope he's ok!

I know the guy and the owner of the newsagency. I used to mow his lawns, i have done some work on the mokes (theres more than 1) and i purchased one of the worn out mokes of them a few years ago.
