Hi Guys, Im a newbie at this so please forgive me if i make any mistakes in trying to explaine my problem. Fan of the mini for a long time. I grabbed a 71 clubman (freebie) that doesnt seem to have all the normal mini rust problems, Clean boot floor, Drip Rails, Seams etc But the floor is really gone due to it sitting up hill with no front screen in it for a few years. you can wave to yourself throo the holes. I know i can get floorpans, but by some posts ive read they seem to be different to later clubmans. i will get the missus to post some pics of the poor thing. To put it simply is the car going to be worth the effort or will i be handing out wads of cash and lots of my time on something that may be ready for god ( i dont want to see another of these cool rides go to the crusher) Any advice positive or negative would be great or if she has to die any knowledge of parts or another shell or if any one needs parts of her in the gippsland area or i will travel any where in vic to get parts for her( Got the car from bendigo with a pajero stuck in 3rd gear, Any thing for a mini) Thanx again |

Go to the members mini gallery and check out "lil grunt". If this mini is worth the effort, then your one sounds like a peach! There is no panel on my grunt that doesnt need touching in one form or another! I love it when someone says they dont want to see another one on the scrap heap. That is my whole philosophy! With attitudes like that, then the classic mini shall never die! |

it depends on how much work you can do yourself. try and outsource the least amount of work possible because labour costs will push up costs very quickely. i find it more satisying to do the work yourself as you learn new things, have more-ish money and you know what you have done to it for future reference. just put some pictures up in the members mini gallery. give us some engine and body numbers so we can tell you if its rare or not. |

The things we do for love of a car! ![]() Use ausmini for all questions big or small! its what its here for! I always ask questions, and go through previous posts for my info. I'm still a dope with auto elec, and mechanics, but the guys here are a wealth of knowledge, such as morris1100, drmini, sports850, miniking, and the list goes on! Good luck, and I cant wait to see your pics! |

it doesnt look to bad as long as you can weld there would be no point of scrapping it. |

I'm handy at welding without warping (as are others on this site) the metal if you need tips! PM me if you want. Stick it out with the project, the satisfaction in the end is going to be worth it! |

That settles it, she will be back on the road eventually, i dont want to rush it all good things take time. i will keep everyone here informed of her second chance and once again. thanks for your wealth of advice. BUT i have sinned and i must confess. When i met my wife 20 years ago she had a clubman, a little metallic nutmeg genuine ss right down to the vinyl roof, it eventually rusted too far for me to fix not knowing what i know now. The poor thing was flogged off to a couple of old dudes to chop up for a golf buggy for $100. im still kicking my own ass for that but feel better getting it off my chest. How many hail minis do i say for such sacrelidge?? |
