What do the 3W and 7W signify in the numbering of the throwout bearing?

I put a 3w5/8 Timken bearing the my rebuild and have the bearing supplied in the Borg and Beck clutch kit still sealed in this packet It is not labled - no markings and is obviously different looking but just curious thats all.

The 3/W has a larger OD and a flat face The 7/W has smaller OD and is more commonly used as it is a cheaper bearing to buy

Thanks John - thought it might have been more significant than that - Anyone want a cheap clutch release bearing?

If it's a UK made one keep it as a spare. They are not that bad... as I said in the other thread I've had an orange dot plate in mine for years with one of these bearings. :D

Thought of that - thing is there are absolutely no markings of any sort on it - OK the kit came from the UK but does that mean the bearing was made there?

Nope. Could be from anywhere. The RHP ones had `Made in England' on them.
