Did this last night. Didnt end well for the mini. Can anyone give advice for what to do?

The damage goes right under the cross member and a few inches under the front passenger seat.

count ur lucky stars it wasn't the sump

not to sure, if its not a show car , i 'd just sound deaden it and put some paint over it

i'm sure somone else has a much better suggestion tho .

you could try get block of wood & try hammer that on where the floor has flexed hitting the floor back down?

get the floor close to level again & get the holes welded back up?

all the other stuff no idea.

Don't think I have ever seen a Mini that hasn't had it's floor bashed back into shape with a hammer. Welcome to the club.

Just be thankful you have a floor, most of us have rust holes where a floor should be

The rest of the floor is pretty average as well. Rust holes forming very nicely. Guess filler and paint will be the easiest option. Might have hit the passenger seat mount as well, the damage came pretty close to it.

possibly noob question but is welding in new floor out of the question?

I could get a new floor welded in, but the main thing against that is id weld new floors in, the have to do the sills, and so on till ive replaced quite a lot, as theres a decent amount of rust round the seams. When its easier to buy another mini to run around in and leave that one for a while just sitting.

Maybe you've answered your own question here.

If it is that bad it should be dealt with anyway, either fixed or parked.

Im leaning towards parked atm. Would it be worth it to claim off my insurance? It could be written off then. I have salvage retention and agreed value of 5 grand. So id still have the car, just wont be able to drive it. Or is there a major inspection to get it back on the road after its declared written off? The 5 grand would be used to buy and do up another mini.

I think there are 2 different write offs. The first is written off, no longer to be used on the road, the second being a repairable write off, this is the one that allows the vehicle to be repaired and returned to the road.

There are two different types of write offs.
a) repairable write offs - Meaning the insurance company acknowledge that it could be repaired but the car is worth less(in insurance) than the repair costs

b) Un-repairable wirte off - unsafe/impossible to fix.

The former can be put back on the roads no worries.

I'd get out the plasma cutter, angle grinder and the welder. In fact I was working on installing a new floor tonight. I hate rust. If it needs to be repaired anyway, just do it. The opportunity presents itself.

I agree with repairing the rust, yes you can simply bog and wack some sound deadner over it all but that's just going to make it a lot worse in half the time .
Talk to your insurance company to confirm all the details first.
