Ok as most of you may know I own a 1970 morris van MK2 and I'm deseeming it but I am unsure on the matter of the roof seem gutter thing whether to deseem it or to leave it because in this pic below it shows the gutter cut off. ![]() But in this pic below it shows the roof seem still there. What is the go did someone do it wrong or is there two ways of doing it? ![]() Pat |

The one at the top isn't a seam, it's just a gutter. Still adds needed strength to the roof though. |

I pesonally woun't deseem the roof or any other part of a mini. But if you are, the roof is one of the more important structural bits of the car/van. Make sure if you do to it a bit by bit, and be 100% confident that your welding is spot on. Also by deseeming the car you are going to have to get an engineer's cert. As you are changing the structual integrity of the car. No cert. no insurance. Cheers Aaron |

![]() Just be aware that if you deseam the side of the roof, every time it rains you will get soaked whenever you open the door. RonR |

Ya probably already know this, the car at the top is a domino. A fibreglass bodyshell with mini running gear. (basically a fibreglass mini) So it never had the gutters at the top! ![]() I reckon leave them on, otherwise it'd look a bit silly (My opinion only of course) Matt |

My beat up clubbie was deseamed on the sides, but not the roof by someone before I got it, I think it looks better that way, but I don't think I'd be bothere d doing it myself. |

My Clubman is deseamed, but only the 4 vertical seams have been removed. The roof gutter is still there. A mini looks soooo much better deseamed, but it woud look funny to remove the roof gutter as well. IMHO, leave the roof gutter, but remove the other seams. |

I had a friend who deseamed a mini but not the roof. He went to an engineer first so that they could recommend what to do so he knew if would pass when finished. I think this sounds like a good idea otherwise you might get to the end only to find out it won't ever pass. |

i think leaving the roof ones on and gettin rid of the side ones look the best ![]() that is if u are gonna do it but if not leave it as it is ![]() also there would be a lot of work and bog involved in deseaming wouldn't there ![]() |

it depends who does the job. I bought a car from Sydney last weekend that had the bumpers removed. Rear bumper is done in the same way the seams are removed. It is such a second rate job with bog a plenty. Definitely not the level of quality I was led to believe. Could have done a better job welding with my feet. Word of warning be careful what you buy and who you get to do your work. ![]() |

There isn't too much work needed because all there is to do is fillet weld all the front seams cut and weld the side seams and grind them off and what ever is left over you put a smigin of bog over thats the way my dad and I are going to do it. A couple of the front seams were already done when I bought it all that is needed is to patch them up a bit and put a bit of bog on it. Pat |
